Bangladesh’s Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has launched a web portal to track climate projects and finance, unveiled at the Bangladesh Climate Development Partnership (BCDP) Knowledge Conference 2026 in Dhaka, Prothom Alo reported on 8 October.
The two-day conference, held with support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), brought together more than 500 policymakers, development partners, private sector executives and civil society representatives.
What was announced
- The BCDP Web Portal: a central platform for real-time project tracking, pipeline management, data integration and coordination across sectors, launched alongside a Climate Solutions Exhibition.
- A single national platform for climate finance: the BCDP, set up in 2024, was confirmed as the national body for mobilising and allocating climate finance and aligning policy.
- Focus on delivery: the conference aimed to speed up implementation of the National Adaptation Plan 2023-2050 and the investment frameworks under the country’s third Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0).
Environment Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo urged more private investment in clean energy, called for climate justice on loss and damage, and stressed the inclusion of women, young people, persons with disabilities and marginalised communities, according to Prothom Alo.
Satya Srinivas Lolla, ADB Executive Director for Bangladesh, said the conference would be judged “not by the discussions, but by the actions and investments that follow”.
Why it matters
A single, up-to-date view of climate projects and their funding would help NGOs, researchers and development partners see where money is going, find gaps and avoid duplication. Sessions focused on energy transition, sustainable transport, water management and climate-resilient agriculture, the sectors most likely to see new investment.
What to watch
Whether the portal is open to the public and kept up to date, and whether it includes projects run by NGOs and local governments, not only government and multilateral programmes.
