Editorial Standards
Accuracy matters more than speed. Relevance matters more than volume. Independence matters more than any commercial relationship.
What we cover
We publish information that affects the development or humanitarian sector in Bangladesh: material policy changes, significant funding, meaningful programmes and partnerships, useful evidence, important opportunities and emerging trends. Routine workshops, courtesy calls, ceremonies and purely promotional announcements are not covered by default.
How we verify
- We go to the original source: government documents and data, the organisation concerned, the original research, UN and multilateral sources, then reputable media.
- We check names, numbers, dates, locations, funding amounts and deadlines.
- We distinguish announcements from completed activities, and an organisation’s claims about its impact from independently established facts.
- If we cannot verify something, we say so or hold the story.
Press releases
A press release is a source, not an article. We identify the news in it, remove promotional language, check the claims and explain why it matters to the wider sector.
Funding and jobs listings
Opportunity listings link to the original notice and show the date we last checked them. We never describe an expired opportunity as open.
Sponsored content and advertising
Paid content is always labelled Sponsored, Partner Content or Advertisement and is kept visually separate from our journalism. Paying for a listing, an advert or a membership never buys editorial coverage or influences what we report.
Use of AI
We may use AI tools to help with research, summarising, classification and translation. Editors check all published work. We never use AI to invent quotes, sources, statistics or interviews.
Corrections
When we get something wrong we correct it, note the correction on the article and date it. We do not quietly rewrite significant errors. To report an error, contact the editors.
Conflicts of interest
Contributors must declare any relationship with organisations they write about. We disclose relevant interests on the article.
